Yes - you can text to 911!
This fascinating bit of information came from a Fairfax County police officer who is working with the LLC to strengthen security here at 6565. I did some research and found an excellent explanation of how to use it. I recommend that you all read it. I hate to think that any of you would be in a situation where you would need to text 911, but if you are - better to be prepared.
Also in the article is a list of areas in the U.S. that support text to 911. For us, that is all the counties in the DMV.
