How do I change my network password?

While TFCA policy does not require changing your network password on a regular basis, you may want to change your password for other reasons. To change it:

Design a network password that meets the system requirements - listed below.

Password Requirements

Passwords must be at least 12 characters and be a mix of letters (both upper and lower case), numbers, and special characters (punctuation marks and symbols).

Blank or easily-guessed passwords such as “password”, “123456”, or similar, are never permitted for any account, nor are passwords created from public information related to an employee’s personal life such as addresses, phone numbers, locations, children or pet’s names.

Do not disclose your network password to anyone outside of the IT Team.

Do not write down your network password and leave it unsecured.

Do not use the same or similar passwords for both work and personal accounts.

Do not re-use passwords between different systems, e.g., do not use the same password for work account A, and work account B. Create a different password for each system.

Inform the IT Manager of what you want to change it to either with a post-it note or via Teams chat. IT does record all network passwords in LastPass.
The IT Manager will let you know when it has been changed.

BEST PRACTICE – Generate and store unique passwords in TFCA's password management app LastPass, Use the “Friends with Benefits” program to store your personal passwords.
